Tome is basically D2 in roguelike form and the options are bewildering for a beginner. DCSS is easy to get started in and will teach the RL fundamentals. The flow of DCSS is a lot more simple too. Just keep going down, check out branches, etc. The Tome overworld is uh, less clear.
