Lyman's 5th Edition Shotshell manual has 4 loads for Win AA hulls and all use Remington SP20 wads with the petals removed. Just cut the petals off and you're left with the wad column only. Those are loads that are supposedly safe with any hull/wad combination so long as you use the called for charge of powder with a non-magnum primer for the given shot weight. No guarantees crimps are going to be pretty.

There is no question whatsoever about the WAA20F1. It was a 20 gauge yellow wad with a short leg section and intended for 1 ounce loads. The WAA20 OEM wad also takes up too much room. It really depends on what powder you're using, and consequently the volume, if you're using Unique, you're in trouble, if you're using WSF you have more options. The STS 20 is probably the most difficult hull to find a suitable alternative for, unless you're using a very dense powder.

You can get away with Bismuth in the Rem and Win hulls with the right powder and wads. I personally just shoot 3/4 oz steel in 2 3/4" hulls but that takes Steel powder to get the speed needed.

The RXP20 shot cup depth is 7/8" with smooth petals and the SP20 is 1" with stitched petals and ribs.
