Dove, high volume, small shot, anything over 1300 fps in steel will work. One ounce of #6 or 5 steel is great. Loads with Long Shot or 800X available. Quail and chuckars, less volume shells. Much tougher birds. Need 1400 fps loads of at least #5 steel. For wild chuckars, ##3 steel is even better with fours a minimum. Unique is a very good powder for the 16 ga. reloader. I have loads W/ 15 gr. to 19 gr. using 7/8 oz to 1 1/8 oz of shot. PB is also a good powder for low pressure, low velocity 16 ga. loading with light shot packages. I'm loading 3/4 ounce in the 16 ga RGL hulls with the gualandi 20 ga wad and remington primers - with 15.5 grains green dot.Federal does the same thing with their 20S1. There are also loads for the 20 gauge Remington RXP 20 gauge wad. The only wad I know currently being made for 20 gauge with the longer 1 ounce shot cup are the Remington SP20's. If I punched in the numbers correctly, my calculator says the current SP20 wad could be converted to a pretty good approximation of the old RP20 with application of scissors or a sharp blade, removing the front 0.19" of the shot cup. The segment of the wad below the shot cup would be identical.

If push comes to shove you could always use the Lee universal load sheet. Those are loads that are supposedly safe with any hull/wad combination so long as you use the called for charge of powder with a non-magnum primer for the given shot weight. No guarantees crimps are going to be pretty.You can load a 3-3/4dram 1-1/4oz load with the wads you list and Herco is good for that application. In the 20ga for AACF cases I like to use Herco with the Rem SP wad for a 2-1/2dram 1oz load for 1155fps. You can get away with Bismuth in the Rem and Win hulls with the right powder and wads. I personally just shoot 3/4 oz steel in 2 3/4" hulls but that takes Steel powder to get the speed needed.I knew about the Alliant load with the Win wad but I have never found one with the Rem SP20 wad. That is the wad I prefer to use for my 20ga 1oz loads. Thank You for the information you provided me. Yep, you get some unburnt residue in the barrel, but I'm not using max loads, and I figure that it all blows out with the next shot anyhow.
