The battery number is really the size of the battery. 4680 battery is 46mm across the top and 80mm long. 2170 is 21mm across top and 70mm long. There are some very small structural and manufacturing benefits to a Y with a 4680 battery pack. Tesla is still gearing up to make 4680 in more quantity.

I have a Dec 2021 MYP order at 63,900 pricing but also a MYLR at Dec pricing. Tesla is forcing me to take delivery of the MYP after two holds I put on them. I was debating letting that go and wait for the MYLR order (October EDD), and get a used S in the meantime. But I am sensing giving up my MYP order would be a bad idea.

And it still corners the best of any crossover I’ve ever driven. Using all weather tires and I average 270wh/mi.The price for the 21’ is $53k. We do qualify for the federal tax credit, but are not able to make full use of it. Unsure about the state incentives. FSD is not needed and is a nice-to-have. The cosmetic differences in the Performance model along with the “sports” suspension is what has us interested.
