Mossberg 500 vs benelli nova.
The Nova would just be plain silly looking hunting upland birds, but the main reason I don't like it is becuase it is made out of almost entire plastic and the forearm is cut wierd and it feels wierd in your hands. Really the only pro I see about this gun is that it is chambered for 3 1/2 inch magnum, but you don't need that so it's useless to you.

Good for anything you throw at it. The benelli is more high end sports car. Something breaks you have to buy from the dealership. I rarely see anything for benelli cheap. The 590 you could make it do anything you want with the change of a barrel, and twist of a choke. Benelli feels smoother cycling out of the box. Both are reliable and as far as finish goes you can clean the Mossberg if it starts to rust. I use both for upland and I think the Benelli feels slightly lighter or at least less front heavy. This is a great place for the safety when using a standard shotgun stock. It is easy to access with your thumb and it makes it easy to see the condition of the shotgun. However, if you're going to use a pistol grip, it is downright awkward to use.

The Remington 1187 or Mossberg 930 might be an alternative. The 590 is to the Benelli Nova Tactical as the 930 is to the M4 tactical. Just a thought. As for the M4 vs Saiga, the key trade off is the magazine system. Detachable magazines allow for more rounds loaded at a time, better weight balance, and faster reloading.

Go pick them up and shoulder them rack the actions (the nova tends to be a little longer slide action than the 870) See what feels good to you.
