The UIM gasket falling apart is nothing unusual when removing the OE gasket from a RWD 3800 for the first time, it's just cracking because half of it is sticking to the UIM and half to the LIM. Those LIM gaskets don't look too bad visually but small leaks on the LIM is noticeable... to me anyway.

The LIM gaskets that are most often recommended are the ACDelco metal gaskets. 89017816 is an ACDelco part number for yours but IDK if these are the plastic or the metal ones.
