About two years ago I bought a 10mm Kimber Custom II GFO for my woods carry pistol. It shot well, for me, but had a terrible problem with FTFs (failure to feed). I tweaked the extractor tension down and that mostly eliminated the problem, but it still occasionally occurred. Took it to my 1911 smith.Please do NOT attempt to shoot .40 S&W ammunition from any 10mm UNLESS you pull the bullets, resize the neck & reseat the bullets to provide longer COL. Keep in mind that the 10mm is a longer case and attempting to run .40's through a 10mm will result at BEST in a bent or broken firing pin due to head spacing issues.

This is true. On a Glock 29 a 21 to 23 pound spring is perfect for my reloads I prefer the 23 for hot loads and 21 for the rest of my handloads. On a 1911 the spring weight for the hammer (main spring) and recoil spring can be increased. I much preferred the Kimber in 10MM, with the ramped barrel and very well supported chamber, over the Delta. Still think the Eclipse was one of the best looking 1911 type guns I ever had. The Dan Wesson has the best fit, finish, and accuracy. The Kimber Super Carry Custom with the alloy frame and round butt gets carried most often. The Kimber Stainless Target II is my favorite 10mm. The S&W is my barbeque gun. For a $550 gun, the RIA TAC II 10mm is a fantastic buy with great fit and accuracy.
The Kimber’s extra weight (38 ounces) and slimmer shape made it easier for me to control on the range than the Smith & Wesson M&P Pro 9 (26 ounces). Again, recoil has always been my largest complaint with polymer-frame pistols. Their lack of mass and higher center of gravity creates a lot of upward force when shooting.
