Jun 15, 2017 · The old black/gold version (MD409) has a huge reputation, but I don't think it deserves it. To me it sounds the same as an e906 in flat presence mode. The e609 to my ear sounds a lot like the e906 in boost presence mode. Anyway you look at it the e609 is a nice mic, but the e906 is better, if you can afford it. The silver 609 doesn't have the fullness of the other two but work can work well with other mics i.e. sm57 or even stand alone in the right situation. current prices I see: e609 silver $110. e906 $190.
