If you're just getting it for home defense, I'd say either the xl or x macro are ok, but a full size and/or metal frame handgun will be much better in regards to lower recoil and accessory management. Edit: also, congrats on the first gun!!! Such a shame what NJ puts their subjects through. Reply.

Opinion: the tac ops is an excellent value. Roughly the same MSRP but real world prices seem to be slightly lower than the x macro, plus two extra $50/each magazines, plus in a desirable configuration. It was honestly a brilliant move by Sig. Realistically, fewer people will want the comp vs the xl slide.
