Peter Straub (Ghost), Dan Simmons (Summer of Night) they're okay but not some of my favorite. I decided to give other horror authors a chance and found a few I actually enjoyed. If you're really invested in them, I'd definitely read the rest of the series, but the events covered in the rest of the novels don't affect the wider galaxy as much. My problem is it seems to be a genre that hit its peak in the late 60’s through 90s, and even modern iterations are few and far between and from what I’ve found always through a publisher.
