Hi, first time visiting Croatia. Staying a couple of days in Dubrovknik and then 5 days in Korcula. Our transfer options are private car (Land Rover) arrange by the hotel in Korcula or the catamaran. Seems like it will take a couple of hours either way.Undecided! My question is, should I travel from plitvice to sibenik and spend 3 nnights there and then travel to split harbour … I'd try to go in May for fewer people, though peak season is July and August. Sone coastal towns start gearing up a bit in May but definitely not crowded. Plus May is sublimely lush and beautiful. Usually about 20-25C. Thanks to all the wonderful posts, I think I’ve got our itinerary complete and am ready to start making bookings for a 19 day trip. It kills me to not visit Plitvice Lakes but because of my irrational fear of snakes, I think I’d be on edge the whole time. I realize I may encounter one anywhere but probably more so there.

If scenery is the focus, I personally wouldn't choose Korcula or Havr. If you are after stunning scenery, I suggest staying on the mainland. Where, depends on how where you are flying in and out of. Traveling to Plitvice from Zagreb is just about 20-30 minutes longer than from Zadar. You can also do a day trip from Zagreb to coast with a car.
