I really thought views were great (but yes slightly different) on both sides. What I will point out is we were 2nd in line and able to sit in the very front seat on the way up.

Re: Cog Railway. Yes, indeed. There is a narrow gauge partially cog railway from Brig (from Geneva you get on at Visp now) to Zermatt and another from the village up to Gornergrat. The one from Brig is the continuing track from the Glacier Express. Because it is narrow gauge you have to change from the mainline trains. Fun experience but watch your step. Went to the summit of Pikes Peak on the cog railway. The new trains are very smooth but seats are thin. It was recommended for couples to sit opposite each other for maximum viewing and this worked out well. We reached the summit and had about 40 minutes.
