Spent the evening reading the manual along with other documents as well as reviews and think I made the right choice with the little MEC. Looking forward now to learning how to use it. This dropped 18.5 gr of Red Dot and 11/8 oz. of shot. This was the standard load of the day. If you wanted a lighter load you bought a 16 gauge "2" bar. for 1 oz. of shot. It was way to long ago for me to remember just how much Red Dot the "2"bar dropped.

Set it re-size to .806 to .807, and you will be just right. That's not much of a change, but it will relieve a lot of stress on the collet. As far as the sizing ring on the 600 jr., just take what it gives and if they fit OK, then no problem. If it isn't sizing enough, then replace the ring. Agree that those do not look like mec dies, could have been to make it load 3 1/2 . I have modified my 16 to load 2 9/16 , not rocket science. The 600 will crimp a first reloaded hull so that it looks factory, once adjusted correctly. I have thousands of once-fired old-style AA .410 hulls and some of them refuse to accept even a Winchester primer easily. The progressive MEC 650 is an entirely different press than the single-stage 600 Jr. and I see no way one could successfully do any shimming in the primer cup of a 600 Jr.

The MEC 600 uses a ring resizer, as does Hornaday & RCBS, and P_W resizes by pressing the hull into a sleeve that carries it all the way through the reloading cycle. Not sure what Spolar or Dillon does, but think they do similar. All metallic (rifle/ pistol) reloaders use the same principle as the ring sizer.
