Smilodon is the best pet if you play turn-based mod due to his high number of attacks and Pounce (ability to make full attack after a charge). Actually, screw that, Smilodon is OP. But there are other options if you like, bear and stag are quite good. Poison is not that great, but servicable. Dog is the worst pet.
