primary clutch won't release. My 6x4 gas gator (dont know year) that i use extensively on our ranch is on the inoperative list. Occasionally would grind when putting in gear but would shut engine off, move shifter back and forth restart and voila it worked for awhile. Now it will not go into gear, horrific grinding so didnt force.

I think the manufacturers intended the clutch to be run dry. If the correct dry lubricant is used it probably helps at least until the lubricant gets slung off. While browsing the forums, it sounds like there are different part numbers for the 8xx series Gators depending on the serial number of the Gator.

My comment is that if the clutch is working properly, I would ignore it, reinstall the clutch and enjoy life with your Gator. If that clutch IS giving trouble, I would not put money, time and effort into reconditioning that particular core. I would invest in a rebuildable core and recondition it properly.
