Bashing has nothing to do with the morality of the character. Bashing is about the writer punishing and humiliating that character in every way possible. I dislike Dumbledore bashing because quite often, Dumbledore's "insidious plans" are dismantled by Harry throwing a public temper tantrum in the great hall. Dumbledore is very bashable. His actions and inactions in the books points to either 1) a thoroughly evil character, or 2) massive incompetence. I think it's incompetence. Writing a fic without addressing Dumbledore's mistakes must be difficult. He's a central character, and many plot points originate with him.
