Jan 24, 2015 · I own a 2012 Pilot EXL Touring with approximately 46K miles. We purchased the vehicle certified pre owned last March and have loved the space and features of the SUV. Over the last couple of months, seemingly as the weather in Chicago has gotten colder, the vehicle started exhibiting a bad shudder and vibration when the VCM would kick on. Before installation, I definitely felt the VCM kick in a lot more times so with that being said, some improvements with this device. I've the blue recommended Blue resistor on for now. I thought 3rd gens don't have an eco light indicator for vcm status. Mine just has a eco mode that fudges with the accelerator control.

If it only makes noise when cold started, for just a few seconds, that is oil filling the passageways, and is probably normal if it lasts just a couple seconds. If you stop and start the car again, it shouldn't make the noise, if this is the reason.
