In bg3 though, I cannot see a reason to use a longbow over a heavy crossbow/dual wield hand crossbows, other than rp or flavor. By the point in the game where I found my first longbow, I was already dual wielding hand crossbows and had no reason to swap other than my character's RP being a bow user.
