My search is between Harvey Alpha 4hp tin coated, and Sawstop 4 hp. My question is the $1000 more for the Sawstop worth the money. Do I pay for the safety feature, or do I go for the quality of Harvey Alpha. My thought is being 78, the Sawstop seems more logical to me at this time. At 28 or 38, then the Harvey is a no-brainer.

Secondly, thick hardwoods have tension. Most boards have a smidge, some boards have wild amounts of it. It is just the nature of the beast in 8/4+. I found the 1.5hp saw had a much much greater tendency to kickback in those tension situations. The 3hp saw powers through the closing kerf.I can't speak to the Harvey or Sawstop.
